Reliant Robin

Reliant Robin is a medium performance aluminized propellant. Widely used across the amateur community, Reliant Robin has become a staple of high altitude flights, owing to its dependable burn-rate characteristics and combustion efficiency.

The formula for Reliant Robin is as follows:

  • 35.00% Ammonium perchlorate, 400 micron

  • 35.00% Ammonium perchlorate, 90 micron

  • 12.00% Aluminum, 5 micron

  • 1.00% Oxamide, 4 micron

  • 17.00% HTPB binder system

The binder system will need to be recalculated on an individual basis, given different chemical sourcing and desired processing.

The propellant performance parameters and ballistics coefficients are as follows:

  • Exhaust avg. molecular weight: 24.98 lb/mol

  • Specific heat ratio: 1.198

  • C*: 5072 ft/s

  • Chamber temperature: 2977 K

  • a: 0.0135

  • n: 0.412

The ballistics numbers will vary based on individual processing parameters and chemical sourcing.
